Exercise Physiology

WHAT IS IT?

Exercise Physiology is the use of exercise and physical activity as an intervention to improve complex and chronic musculoskeletal or Cardio-respiratory conditions.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Exercise is used primarily to either strengthen or stretch specific muscle groups, in order to improve muscular imbalances, postural abnormalities, or several other conditions.

TREATMENT

  • A health questionnaire form will be completed.
  • A short interview will be conducted, in which the practitioner will get an idea of why the client is here and what muscular problems they might have.
  • Any necessary assessments will be conducted e.g. postural analysis
  • A massage treatment using oils or creams will be given on a massage table, with appropriate massage techniques and stretches performed by the practitioner.
  • A re-assessment may take place to determine any changes or improvements during the treatment.
  • This will be followed up with a short post treatment interview.
  • Any necessary exercises, stretches or other recommendations will be given to the client.
